Rafael Nadal beat Nick Kyrios in almost three hours on his way to his 11th semi-final at the BNP Paribas Open.
“What was the key to winning today? Let’s just say, after a three-hour match, it’s hard to say that the two break points won back at the beginning of the decisive set were the most important. Of course, it was important to save these break points, but throughout the match I also won a lot of important goals. It was a very good match and of course I’m glad that I won, because it was very difficult already at the end of the second set.
It was another one of those matches that I needed to play really well to get through. I like these matches – I enjoy these challenges. Today I was able to win and it gives me a reason to be proud of myself.”
